Recording a phone conversation

  • Limitations
    • The phone adapter provided will work for recording conversations on standard analog phone lines
    • The adapter does not work for cell phones, digital phones (ex. office phone systems with extensions), multi-line phones, or VOIP/Broadband phones
    • If there is a lot of static on the line, a “phone line noise filter” can be purchased from an electronics store

  • Phone Adapter Setup
    • You can connect the phone adapter to any line in your home or office with the same phone number as the line you wish to record
    • Connect the phone cord from the phone jack to the “LINE” slot on the phone adapter
    • Connect the phone cord from the “TEL” or “HANDSET” slot to the phone receiver
    • Connect the “VOICE OUTPUT” from the adapter to the “mic in” slot on the recorder (using the cord provided with the recorder)

  • Voice Recorder Setup
    • Select “VOR” on from the menu (pg. 17)
    • (9016/9033) You should see “VOR” in the lower left corner of the LCD
    • From the file menu, press the record button
    • The red record light will turn on
    • A new file will be created with the record time increasing from “ 00:00:00”
    • When no one is on the line, the recorder will stop recording and go into “standby” mode
    • The record time will stop increasing and “VOR” and the record time will blink
    • When sound is detected on the line (the phone rings or you begin dialing) the recorder will switch back into record mode. It will continue recording as long as there is sound on the line (until you hang up) and the recorder has not reached its recording time capacity
    • To stop recording at any time press the record button again.
    • The red light will turn off
    • You can detach the recorder from the phone adapter
